Confusion of somatotypes

Whatsomorph?...Whosomorph?... Getting it straight.

Students often have problems matching the various body types to their characteristics. This is partly due to the fact that the terms are so similar (ectomorph, mesomorph and endomorph). I have found the following trick very useful for straightening them out:

- Mesomorph starts with an "M" for muscular. You can also jokingly refer to them as "musclemorphs".
- Ectomorph has a "T" for thin. This body type has a very thin or narrow build.
- Endomorph has a "D" for dumpy. Endomorphs have a large build. They are usually pear shaped.

This should significantly reduce the confusion. Good luck!
